ATE, The full name is Automatic Test Equipment, which stands for Chip Automatic Testing Machine. It is an automated equipment that performs functional and performance testing on chip wafers and after chip packaging. ATE testing is an essential link in the chip design manufacturing application industry chain.
ATE machines can be divided into four categories based on the type of testing chip: memory testing system, digital circuit testing system, analog circuit testing system, and mixed signal circuit testing system. Various ATE machines have their own characteristics in terms of testing principles, testing resources, testing speed, and accuracy, and can be selected and applied according to specific testing needs.
1. Memory testing system
The memory testing system mainly tests the memory, and the basic principle is to write some data and then verify the read back data for testing. The characteristics of a memory testing machine include: designed for specific testing requirements of the memory, with efficient data writing and reading capabilities; Support a large number of pins for parallel testing, meeting the high-density testing requirements of memory chips; Has high testing speed and accuracy, ensuring the reliability and stability of the memory.
2. Digital Circuit Testing System
The digital circuit testing system is mainly used to test digital logic chips, such as CPUs, GPUs, AI chips, etc. The characteristics of a digital circuit testing system include: each pin has independent testing resources to meet the high-precision testing requirements of digital chips; Support complex timing testing to ensure the correctness of digital circuit functionality; Has high testing speed and throughput, suitable for mass production testing of large-scale digital circuits.
3. Analog circuit testing system
The analog circuit testing system is mainly used to test analog chips, such as power management chips and signal chain chips. Simulation circuit testing has strict requirements for the accuracy of voltage/current generation and measurement. The characteristics of analog circuit testing system include high precision and stability, ensuring the accuracy of analog circuit testing; Support testing of various analog signals, such as voltage, current, frequency, etc; Provide abundant testing resources, such as programmable power supplies, precision measurement units, etc., to meet the testing needs of analog circuits.
4. Mixed signal circuit testing system
The mixed signal circuit testing system is mainly used to test mixed signal chips, which include both digital and analog circuits, such as MCU chips, ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) and DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) signal conversion chips. The characteristics of the mixed signal circuit testing system include: supporting both digital and analog signal testing, meeting the testing requirements of mixed signal chips; Provide high-precision testing resources to ensure the accuracy of digital and analog signal testing; It has strong flexibility and scalability, and can be configured and upgraded according to specific testing needs.
